PNG white outline and weird edges

Hi all,

I am getting some weird results when working with png images.

They are getting white outlines and some images get a weird border where full transparency is expected.

Here are some examples:

This is what I mean by weird border, see that black line?

Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

This is today with this issue: Artifacts on our 2D assets - #16 by yaustar

The background colour of the semi-transparent areas are white and they need to be changed to allow bleeding of the colour from the main graphic
