Different quality between postshot and playcanvas

Hi, i am working on a pipeline to test it for long term use and mass production.

i am new to Gussian Splatting, so if you can help please do.

the pipeline is 3dsmax Corona Render > Postshot > Playcanvas editor to offline on local server.

Rendered 266 Image covering the whole space, at 2k quality, 500k Steps, 2M Splat. no AA. Splat3 Points and camera Poses included.

i noticed always diffrent quality between all of them and i don’t know how to fix it, it seems in postshot very nice and Splats are not really visible much, but when i use playcanvas it is downgraded hard and very visible on most of the objects, i don’t know is it the training issue or platform, i tried many training times and ways instead of postshot, but postshot is best of all.

i need some help on where exactly i am doing the mistake, i was doing the trainig with AA then i read on one post which sounded related Model looks different in SuperSplat than in PostShot – has anyone seen this? - #5 by Christian_Nielsen that it shouldn’t be with AA, and it helped but still

Thank you

in the UK (PlayCanvas team), I get this when trying to look at the screenshots:

Sorry About this, i didn’t know @mvaligursky

i uploaded it to google drive all the screenshots

and here for more details

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I suppose this might be related to SOG compression, but not sure.
Try and drop both ply and sog version here: PlayCanvas Examples
to see what difference you get that way please.

@slimbuck for visibility

Hi @Silverstone_Engineer ,

I can’t determine if the issue you’re seeing is only in supersplat viewer or in supersplat editor too?

If you can send me the PLY I can take a look.

I also recommend loading the PLY you exported back into postshot and see if it’s the same. Postshot must transform spherical harmonics upon export and if the model has a rotation this can result in blurry reflections.

Thanks!

Sorry for this REALLY late reply we had 1 week Vacation.
while i was on vacation i increased the number of Images to train on from 266 to 700.

it increased the quality a bit, but i am still facing the same issue that it looks much much better on postshot then playcanvas or Superspl.at

i figured out that renderer called “compute” is getting almost the same resault as Postshot. i tried to put on the offline and it got me there.
if you saw the screenshots in this update you will find the diffrance, and i uploaded the PLY file Aswell.

Again sorry for the late reply and thank you for the support @slimbuck
