I’m messing around with Gaussian Splat not in splat viewer but in the regular editor. It seems to always bring my splat with an inverted y axis into the scene. What’s strange is when I double click to bring up model viewer, it shows it with non-inverted y axis. Is it some sort of quirk with editor or am I missing some sort of import parameter to make sure it shows properly in scene? I’m using exported .ply straight from postshot
@slimbuck can explain this the best.
Hi @BattyVanBitten (cool name!),
Yeah PLY files have positive Y axis go into the ground, so strange.
So we rotate PLYs 180 degrees around the Z axis by default. If you load a PLY into SuperSplat, you’ll see the default transform has this 180 degree rotation.
It looks like the editor does not add the rotation, whereas model-viewer does. So that’s what you’re seeing.
Till this is addressed in the editor, please continue adding a 180 degree Z rotation to your PLYs to have them match the other tools.
Thanks!
