Shadow textures


Does playcanvas have any tool for creating the shadow textures projected by the lights of the scene in the static objects? Or should I make every shadow texture apart in a 3D software and then put everything toghether in Playcanvas, place the shadow texture in the floor or terrain mesh and place the others objects where I see a shadow?


Currently, PlayCanvas only generates realtime shadowmaps. For example, like the shadows cast by the characters in this demo. To bake lighting into textures (like for the shadow beneath the car in this demo), you need to use 3DS Max, Maya, Blender or a similar 3D modelling app.

Will the PlayCanvas Editor itself ever support baking of shadows? Watch this space for updates. :wink:
