I’m using a PNG with transparency in an UI element, but it leaves a small artifact at the edge that ruins the illusion slightly. What can this be? I tried removing compression but same thing.

Hmm, for UI elements most likely this is done automatically, though can you try selecting your PNG asset and setting the UV address to Clamp? Like this:
