Issues with Playcanvas builds on latest Android Chrome build 58.0.3029.83 in RedMi Note 4

Hi,

I am facing an issue in my Playcanvas builds since yesterday (17th May) on my RedMi Note 4 device after upgrading to latest Chrome build (58.0.3029.83) for Android.

After upgrading Chrome, any Playcanvas build is being rendered partially only on left-bottom corner of screen, rest of the screen is empty and is rendered with black background. I have tried loading standard Playcanvas tutorials but unfortunately there also I am facing the same issue [attached are the screenshots of the same]

It would be great if you can help me out in identifying solution/fix for the issue. Our complete application development pipeline is stalled because of this.

I have also attached my chrome settings and device details.

Thanks in advance.
.

Last but not the least. Keep up the good work. Kudos to Team Playcanvas for developing such a path breaking and awesome product. :relaxed:

Cheers,
Partho.

Does any other WebGL demos work, from other engines and frameworks?
How does content not within iframes, does it work well, or experiences same issue?

There were no recent changes on our end that could introduce such issues, and seems like these are introduced by Chrome. It worth collecting enough data and filing bug report for Chrome team: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/

Just tried that tutorial page on my Samsung S7, same Chrome version (58.0.3029.83) with no problem.

Have you tried the standard, ‘turn it off and back on again’ approach?
How is it on other devices? Is it just the RedMi Note 4?

Hi Yaustar,

Yes, I have rebooted the device several time but unfortunately the problem is still persists. I have even uninstalled and re-installed Chrome multiple times. :unamused:

I have checked it on other RedMi Note 4 devices with older Chrome builds and on LeEco device and it seems to work fine in them.

Hi Max,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry for the drive links, they are public now.

I have checked out few ThreeJS examples. Interestingly some of them work and some don’t.

I haven’t checked with “content not within iframes” yet. Will share the results once done and fill up bug-report for Chrome team.

Cheers,
Partho.
