To create a game, follow these steps:

  1. Conceptualize Your Game: Think about your game’s story, world, and characters. Decide on the rules that will shape your game.
  2. Learn the Basics of PlayCanvas: Start with the PlayCanvas Tutorials and check out sample projects. The PlayCanvas Documentation is a great resource to understand what the engine can do.
  3. Asset Creation: Use tools like Blender to make 3D models and animations. Add spooky textures and materials to create a creepy vibe. Don’t forget that sound effects and music are important for horror games.
  4. Implementing Game Elements: Script the gameplay mechanics, events, and interactions. Good lighting is crucial in horror games. Design a user interface that matches the theme.
  5. Testing and Iteration: Keep testing your game to find bugs and enhance the gameplay. Get feedback from others.

This is just a basic guide. You’ll need to do more than this. Good luck on your journey!

Hi,

I am Urs Hunkler and discovered PlayCanvas on the one hand through SuperSplat and on the other hand through Viverse, where I discovered a lot of people who had been working with Mozilla Hubs and had been active in the Hubs discord.

So I got curious to investigate if I can use PlayCanvas for my projects. For A-Frame I have a base VR scene with all components for locomotion, continuous thumbstick movement, navmesh support, skydome integration etc. that works in the browser with mouse and keyboard and in headsets with controllers. I am trying to create such a basic scene in PlayCanvas.

From my experiences with my first steps in learning PlayCanvas I guess that I will need a lot of help to create my basic project.

Best,
Urs

If you have been using A-Frame, have you looked at the equivalent for PlayCanvas?

Yep, I’ve seen the PlayCanvas web components. But the interesting thing with PlayCanvas is the editor

I feel you dude, I really do, that happens to me at lot

Welcome!, We believe you can make amazing things using playcanvas!

I am Markus. I don’t really know how to use this game engine or whatever it is well cause I started like 3 days ago. The only thing I can do is add a movement script, make stuff turn with keys, add materials and components to entity’s, and make first person or third person things. I think I’m at a good pace for 3 days, though.

I agree! It takes some time, but it is very rewarding. Scripting is a big part of game development on any platform.
