☑ How to add text to a plane

Hi all,

I realise this topic has been discussed in previous posts, and I’ve taken a look through the tutorials regarding UI/Text, but I’m really struggling to comprehend how to utilise the canvas tag effectively.

Essentially I would like to have a plane that has text written on it, the same as https://playcanvas.com/project/362231/overview/tutorial-canvas-text, but no matter what I try I cannot get text to appear. Is anyone able to give me some pointers, or does anyone know of common mistakes I could have made?

Can you share a link to the project please?

Are you getting any errors in console?

Edit: Please bear in mind that the tutorial you have linked to is using the old scripting system (legacy) so some of the script syntax is different.

Thank you for your reply,

Rather embarrassingly I’ve just worked out the problem - when I was changing over from the old scripting to the new, I had misspelled ‘initialize’ as ‘initialise’, so it was never creating the canvas element in the first place - me and my British spelling!
