Creating empty MeshInstances for grouping on FBX

Hi… am importing an FBX which have multiple MeshInstances… which I want to bundle into groups, but hierarchies are not exported in blender…
My initial idea was:

  1. create new mesh instances with null mesh or material but only a node instance
  2. attach them into the base of the mesh
  3. reparent the original meshinstances into their corresponding meshIinstance bundles
  • Can this be done?
  • Would creating skelleton be ‘better’?
