Changed Overall Look after Update from 2.18.2 to 2.19.5

Hi everyone,

since the latest update, the overall look of our project in Launch mode has noticeably changed. The scene appears brighter and somewhat washed out compared to before.

When I switch back to the previous engine version (2.18.2) in the settings, the visual appearance returns to normal.

Is there a change in the new version settings that could explain this?
Do I need to adjust any specific settings to preserve the look we had in the previous engine version?

Thanks in advance.

Hello .. nothing that I’m aware of. Could you please post some screenshots to perhaps help identify the issue?

Feel free to message me directly if you don’t want to share that in public.

Got an agent to review the release notes, and these two are potentials:

  1. “Apply Color LUT in correct sRGB color space” — strongest candidate. If the project uses color-grading (Color LUT), the prior result was computed in the wrong color space. The fix changes the graded output, which can read as brighter/washed out. This matches an “overall look” shift better than anything else.
  2. “Apply specular factor/color when map is present” — previously the specular factor/color was effectively ignored when a specular map was assigned; now it’s applied. Materials using specular maps can get noticeably brighter highlights. Scoped to those materials rather than the whole scene.

Thank you very much for your fast response. It really was because of the LUT map. Maybe this would be a good addition to the Asset Auditor. Thanks for saving the day :slightly_smiling_face:
