Bug with custom light maps

i am having an issue when enabling light maps on a mesh to use light map files from external apps which results in rendering the mesh black. If this happens it will stay black forever. Only a reimport of the mesh and a new material solves the issue.

Steps to reproduce:

  • have a mesh with a second UV set.
  • enable light maps on the mesh
  • drag your light map into the light map slot
  • object looks fine now.
  • try to switch the light map file to another one β†’ object goes black
  • or click the rebake button in the editor (which of course makes no sense) β†’ object goes black.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way to solve the issue or a quick workarround?

I have a test project here if somebody wants to look into it.

There’s this known issue at the moment which could be related … worth testing the workaround
