Can you provide an two very close in terms of complexity examples to compare?
In VR on mobile, usually bottleneck is GPU, not CPU. So it is all about how complex graphics is. Sketchfab usually focuses on very simple complexity-wise applications. While in PlayCanvas developers create much more interactive and complex type of applications.
It appears as though Playcanvas is preforming better than Sketchfab in this comparison. The Playcanvas samples https://playcanvas.com/industries/vrlinks at the top of this thread are sluggish in comparison. Especially the spherical map. Does anyone have an idea why? I’m using an iPhone 6s
Two links out of three you’ve provided does not work.
Link to industries, there is full on PBR material system with box projected cubemaps - which is heavy for mobile. Do you have similar comparison with sketchfab where it has as complex material system for fair comparison?
It is very down to complexity of an application, and there should be not much difference if you would compare identical content between two platforms.
From those links, I’m getting much better FPS on my Android with PlayCanvas demo, actually 60fps, and visually looks like not 60fps on Sketchfab example.
